Visions of Enchantment
Loudoun Ballet Company will present our new production "Visions of Enchantment".
Featuring stunning costumes, Princess Aurora and the fairies with selections from
"The Sleeping Beauty" and Act II of the classic ballet "Swan Lake"-
the program is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
Also returning to the delight of Loudoun audiences as guest artist is Norbert Nirewicz.
The Sleeping Beauty
The Sleeping Beauty ballet is the fairy tale told through dance.
In the familiar tale, the King and Queen are delighted by the birth of a daughter, Princess Aurora.
The entire Kingdom is invited to attend the christening of Princess Aurora.
The fairies of the Kingdom each offer a gift to the new princess.
Candide, the fairy of purity, Coulante, the fairy of vitality, Breadcrumb,
the fairy of generosity, Canary, the fairy of eloquence, and Violente, the fairy of passion,
all dance a lovely variation for the Court.
The evil Carabosse has not been invited to the festivities.
She casts a spell on the young princess, cursing her with death at the age of sixteen by the
prick of her finger with a spindle needle.
The Lilac Fairy, the fairy of wisdom, has not yet bestowed her gift, and changes Carabosse’s curse --
Princess Aurora and the Kingdom will fall into a deep sleep for one hundred years,
and the Princess will be awakened only by the kiss of her true love.

Prince Florimund discovers the overgrown Kingdom while hunting in a deserted wood.
He finds Princess Aurora, is instantly in love with her, kisses her and awakens her and the Kingdom
from a century-long slumber.
The Kingdom rejoices in the betrothal of Princess Aurora to the handsome, gallant Prince Florimund.
Characters perform for the Court, first Bluebird and then the Red Riding Hood and the lively Wolf.
The Prince and Princess dance to show the contentment in their hearts,
and dance a lovely pas de deux celebrating their wedding.
Swan Lake: Act II - The Lakeside
Prince Siegfried finds himself alone near a mist laden lake, Siegfried begins to draw his bow
aiming at a flock of elegant white swans. As he readies himself for their landing by the lakeside,
one comes into view. He stops and sees before him a beautiful creature dressed in white feathers,
more woman than swan. Enamored, the two dance and Siegfried learns that the swan maiden is the
princess Odette. An evil sorcerer, von Rothbart captured her and used his magic to turn
Odette into a swan by day and woman at night. As they dance by the moonlit lake, Siegfried
professes his love to Odette, an act that could render the sorcerer’s spell powerless.
von Rothbart suddenly appears and whisks the group of swans away.
